How to start a ReDorm program (choosing the right model)

Move-out week. It’s a lot!

In just a few days, mountains of fans, clothes, food, even air fryers can pile up. Maybe your campus has never been able to have any donation system. Maybe you tried it before and found it was way too hard. We know, we’ve been there. This page was created to help university staff figure out the best way to run this program from move-out to move-in and even estimate a budget.

Waste reduction through reuse is a Better Climate Solution than diversion.

A true waste reduction strategy is to bridge the gap for dorm essentials by letting new students use what old students leave behind.

The Cost Efficient Strategies

  • They are the most cost and labor effective method currently available compared to schools that used in-building donation boxes. They eliminate the challenge of not having a storage space, as they offer summer storage options in their own warehouse. They reduce the cost of dorm box programs by ~60% and eliminate the issue of what to do with tangible equipment when not in use throughout the year.
